Satyaban was glancing through the Matrimonial column of a local daily when he came across a strange advertisement. It claims that the organization can identify perfect match for those who are seeking life partners. For this a highly professional software developed by a German Company is being used. The software was launched three years ago and in the meantime there are thousands of couples who are happily married. They do not charge any fee for registration; however donations are welcome.
Satyaban being a software engineer himself got interested and filled up their online registration form. The form is quite long and the queries cover different aspects of life. The next day he received an email saying that particulars submitted by him result into selection of quite a large number of prospective life partners. So they have requested him to fill up another set of queries which include some psychological questions as well.
This time they took two days and the second email that Satyaban received says that now the selection includes about five hundred would-be brides. For narrowing down the choice he has been requested to answer another set of questions. The questions are very strange. Each question describes a situation and then he is asked to select a choice out of four or five alternatives.
After about a week, Satyaban received another set of about 500 multiple choice questions. All of them look very innocent and he was requested to answer just ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. He complied with the request. The next day another email reached his inbox and it said that his last responses were not consistent and implied that he had not responded honestly. So, he is requested once again to respond to another set of questions.
This time he is supplied with particulars of four prospective partners along with their photographs and contact details. He has been requested to inter-act with each of them with a view to making a final decision. Savitri is one of them and after dating her for about a couple of months he decided to make her his life partner.
Both of them are now very happy and Satyaban contributed a large donation to the organization. After a year of their wedding Satyaban received another email from the match making company and it says-
“Due to some mistakes in data entry, the list that we sent you two years back was imperfect. Please find attached a fresh list and make friendship with each of them in turn before making final choice. Wish you a very happy married life.”
He noticed that the new list doesn’t include Savitri’s name at all. He thanked God that Savitri doesn’t know his email password.
